Leather Care Guide
Simple, careful habits help preserve the finish, structure, and character of your Calfnero leather goods.
Before you begin
Leather is a natural material. Shade, grain, pull-up, wrinkles, and light marks can vary by finish and may become part of the product's character over time. Always test any cleaner, conditioner, or protector on a hidden area first.
Calfnero can use this page as an editable care hub: add approved swatch photos, refine internal finish notes, and keep responsible material messaging separate from cleaning claims.
Product-team note: this guide uses only Calfnero's listed leather names and conservative care guidance. Replace placeholder images with approved Calfnero leather swatches or product close-ups before publishing, and confirm internal finish notes where marked.
Routine
Use a light hand. Most leather-care issues begin when leather is soaked, overheated, over-conditioned, or rubbed aggressively.
After use, wipe with a clean, dry, soft cloth. Remove dust from seams and grain with gentle strokes. Avoid rubbing one area aggressively.
If leather gets wet, blot immediately with an absorbent cloth and let it dry naturally at room temperature. Do not use a hair dryer, heater, or direct sunlight. Once fully dry, contact Calfnero before applying any product if the surface looks stained or stiff.
Store in a breathable dust bag in a cool, dry place. Maintain shape with clean acid-free tissue or soft fabric, and avoid overstuffing. Do not hang heavy bags by their handles for long periods.
Use only leather care products suitable for the specific finish, and test first on a hidden area. For deep stains, color transfer, or structural repairs, consult Calfnero support or a leather care professional.
Natural leather may deepen, soften, crease, or develop a subtle patina with use. This aging should be gradual and characterful; sudden stains, sticky residue, peeling, or strong discoloration should be reviewed before treatment.
By finish
The notes below are intentionally conservative. Where a leather name is an internal Calfnero finish, the manufacturing team should confirm finish-specific care before final publication.
Clean with a soft dry cloth, following the direction of the grain or embossing where possible. Avoid abrasive brushing, heavy rubbing, or thick creams that can collect in the printed texture.
Croco-print describes the surface effect; it is not a claim of exotic leather. Confirm the exact base leather and finish before adding product-specific cleaners.
Use a soft dry cloth for routine care. Keep away from excess moisture and heavy conditioners, which may darken or alter the soft hand feel. Test any care product on a hidden area first.
Confirm whether each Nappa product has a protective finish before recommending any cream or conditioner.
Expect natural variation, softened structure, and casual creasing. Wipe gently with a dry cloth and avoid soaking or trying to even out shade variation with aggressive cleaning.
Product-team confirmation needed before publishing conditioner guidance for this finish.
Shade highs and lows may be part of the finish character. Blot moisture quickly, dry naturally at room temperature, and avoid heat or harsh products that can disturb the surface.
Confirm the post-wash finishing process before adding care-product recommendations.
Use general gentle care until the exact finish behavior is confirmed: dry cloth, no soaking, no harsh cleaners, and no untested conditioner.
Manufacturing/product-team confirmation required before publishing detailed DDDM care instructions.
Dust can settle into the grain, so wipe with a clean dry cloth and use light strokes around seams. Avoid heavy wax buildup in the texture.
Confirm the approved conditioner or protector for the specific Floater finish before recommending one.
Use a soft dry cloth and avoid excessive pressure. Natural grain and fine character marks should be treated gently rather than polished aggressively.
Confirm whether the Goat leather is finished, washed, or coated before adding any cream or conditioning schedule.
Clean with a dry cloth and allow gradual character marks to settle naturally unless the product team defines this finish differently. Avoid water saturation, heat, solvents, and untested care products.
Manufacturing/product-team confirmation required before publishing finish-specific Hunter guidance.
Use conservative care only: dust gently, blot moisture immediately, dry naturally, and avoid any cleaner or conditioner until the surface finish is confirmed.
Manufacturing/product-team confirmation required before publishing detailed Kara care instructions.
Light marks may often be softened by gently buffing with a clean dry cloth. Keep away from heat, solvents, and excess conditioner, which can disturb oils or waxes and darken the surface.
Pull-up leathers are expected to show tonal movement; confirm product-specific guidance before adding protector recommendations.
Clean lightly with a dry cloth and respect natural shade variation or creasing from the finish. Avoid soaking, aggressive rubbing, or drying with heat.
Confirm whether the finish has a coating before recommending any conditioner.
Wipe gently with a soft cloth and avoid forcing creams or oily conditioners into the crosshatch surface unless approved. Keep sharp objects away from the textured finish.
Confirm whether the Saffiano finish is coated before adding any cleaner or protector recommendation.
Color variation, creasing, and a lived-in surface may be intentional. Clean lightly, dry naturally, and avoid polishing away the character of the finish.
Confirm what marks are intentional to the Vintage finish versus marks that require support review.
If VT refers to a vegetable-tanned or natural-aging finish in Calfnero naming, gradual darkening and patina may be expected. Until confirmed, use dry care, avoid water, and test any product first.
Confirm the VT specification before publishing it as vegetable-tanned leather or adding patina-specific claims.
Use general gentle care until the exact finish behavior is confirmed: dry cloth, no soaking, no household cleaners, and no untested conditioner.
Manufacturing/product-team confirmation required before publishing detailed YDM care instructions.
Dust gently with a clean dry cloth, protect from moisture, and avoid any treatment product until the surface and finish are confirmed.
Manufacturing/product-team confirmation required before publishing detailed Soet care instructions.

Questions
Avoid soaking leather. If a finish allows light damp cleaning, use the least moisture possible and dry naturally. When unsure, use a dry cloth and contact Calfnero first.
No. Alcohol, perfume, vinegar, detergents, acetone, and household cleaners can stain, dry, strip, or discolor leather and hardware.
Leather is natural, so tone, grain, creasing, and softness can evolve with use. Gradual patina is expected on some finishes; sudden stains, peeling, or sticky residue should be checked before treatment.
Only condition when the leather type and finish are compatible with that product. Over-conditioning can darken or soften leather unevenly, so always test first and use a light hand.
Use a product made for the specific leather finish, not a general household cleaner. For Calfnero internal finishes, confirm with support before applying any treatment.
If you are unsure about the leather finish, stain type, or care method, contact Calfnero before applying any cleaner or conditioner. Share a clear photo in natural light so the team can guide you more safely.
