The journey of Calfnero is deeply rooted in a legacy of craftsmanship, ambition, and family vision.
Over 30 years ago, Mr. Raj Shekhar arrived in Kolkata from a small town, carrying big dreams and a relentless drive. He began his career as an employee in a leather goods export factory, where he discovered his passion for leather craftsmanship. Fueled by inspiration and determination, he set out on his own, founding RS Lederwaren with a small team of just 8 workers.
What started in a modest room gradually grew into one of Kolkata’s most respected export houses, employing over 650 artisans and supplying handcrafted leather goods to more than 25 international brands.
With the export business flourishing, Raj’s wife, Shalini Srivastava, who had long supported trade shows and operations, decided to take the next bold step. In 2019, she launched Calfnero, a brand that brought their years of craftsmanship directly to Indian consumers. As an influencer and entrepreneur, Shalini harnessed the power of social media and offline exhibitions to carve a space for Calfnero in the domestic market.
Now, the next generation is carrying the vision forward. Their daughter, Muskaan, completed her undergraduate degree in Commerce from Melbourne and a Master’s in Digital Media Management from London. She brings a fresh perspective to the brand — blending entrepreneurial legacy with modern digital strategy to lead Calfnero’s expansion in the online space.
Together, this family-built brand continues to evolve, combining heritage craftsmanship with a modern spirit — delivering timeless leather goods for the bold, the stylish, and the forward-thinking.
